Skymont Scout Reservation

It’s time for camp! Adventure begins at Skymont! We are looking forward to having a great summer.  If your Troop is still looking for something fun to do, we have some availability later in the summer. Consider sending some boys for a few days during our FastTrack Experience! Campaign Chairs Nicole Osborne and Deron Allen are pleased to announce that the Friends of Scouting campaign team has met 100% of its goal! 

In her final report, Nicole commended the Chairs and volunteers involved for their dedication and efforts. “Raising over $132,000 in new and increased gifts was critical to our success this year.”
Nicole and Scout Executive, Scott Fosse, would like to thank all of the Chairs, Table Hosts, and volunteers for their dedication and determination to meet and exceed the Friends of Scouting goal and raise the necessary funds to continue the great Scouting programs, camps, and services in our Cherokee Area Council.

We Need Volunteers for Twilight and Day Camp!

Adults can learn the ways of the Force as well. Are you a Star Wars geek or want to help our Cub Scouts have an awesome camp experience? We are currently looking for individuals to assist as den leaders and in program areas for our camp at ALL locations.  No experience required and we will work with your schedule. Also, if your Boy Scout needs service hours, Cub Scout Day Camp is a great place to earn them!

Grab a towel and come have some fun at the pool! This is a recruitment event so invite a friend and put the word out the community that all kids age 6 and up are eligible to join. This event is free for all interested in Scouting! Parent supervision is required for children under the age of 12.

Come on down to the Jasper Scout Hall and enjoy burgers and fellowship. Bring a side dish or dessert to pass along with your personal drink of choice (water provided)! Burgers, chips, and fixins provided! Scout Executive Scott Fosse will be in attendance for the annual Fireside Chat.

FastTrack

Skymont FastTrack Experience

Looking to move up the trail to Eagle or seeking a new adventure? Skymont Scout Reservation has an exciting opportunity for Scouts to attend a FastTrack session and earn 2 additional Merit Badges in a condensed version of summer camp! We will be offering two FastTrack sessions of camp during July 4-6, and 6-8 (traditionally Week 5 of summer camp).  Boys will be able to earn two Merit Badges during a 3 day 2 night intensive experience at Skymont. We will offer Merit Badges that are both exciting (high adventure) and required for the Eagle Rank. More information can be found online at www.skymont.org.

2016 Webelos Resident Camp “Adventure Time”

July 17-21 at Skymont Scout Reservation. Rising Webelos 1 and 2 can be part of the adventure of resident camp participating in activities that Boy Scouts do during summer camp. Shooting Sports, Aquatics, and lots of adventure! WRC focuses on the exciting transition between Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.This year’s theme is Adventure Time, modeled after the popular TV show. Ensure your Scouts have FUN this year by planning your year early. Each Unit represented will receive a packet of materials including calendars, event flyers and a program CD. Please come early as you will need time to get your Unit's "Door Prize Entry Form" stamped at various program tables before you can qualify for the numerous prizes given away during the evening. The Program Kickoff is sponsored in part by Trail’s End. Dinner will be provided with REQUIRED RESERVATION before July 20th for us to order the proper amount of food. This is an event for adult volunteers only; please make other plans for your children.

The 2016 Hiwassee River Raft Race is quickly approaching. Last year we had over 550 Scouts and Scouters from 30 Units from our Cherokee Area Council, Middle Tennessee and Alabama.

Summer is almost here!  To help you get ready for the weather change and summer activities, we have short sleeve t-shirts and Boy Scout shorts.
 
If we don’t have your items in stock we will be glad to order those for you at no shipping costs to you, so let us be your scouting headquarters.  Please allow two weeks for regular orders and up to eight weeks for factory orders to arrive.
 
We hope that you are planning on attending Skymont this year for your summer camp activity.  We have several new items available this year in the Trading Post, such as t-shirts, knives, games, caps, and much, much more.  When you are there, please come by and see us!

2017 Jamboree

2017 National Scout Jamboree

July 19-28th 2017 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virgina

Now is the time to prepare!  A once in a Scouts lifetime event, the Jamboree brings Scouts together from across  the country for 10 days of extraordinary experiences!  The Cherokee Area Council will take one Troop and ¼ Crew to the 2017 National Jamboree.  Scouts should have received an interest letter via mail.
